The Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ) wants to grant $10,000 per owner for renovations aimed at reducing electricity consumption.
The PLQ thus hopes to reduce the total electricity consumption of Quebecers by 16 terawatt-hours in order to supply their eventual hydrogen production project, which would be extremely energy-intensive.
In fact, the Liberals want to resuscitate the RénoVert program abolished by the caquistes when they came to power in 2018.
When the QLP’s financial framework was unveiled nearly two weeks ago, we had already learned that the return of this tax credit program for renovations would cost $800 million, or $200 million per year for four years, starting from 2023-2024.
Further details will follow.
