the Pignada and Lazaret forests closed due to the risk of fire

As a precaution, the forests of Pignada and Lazaret are closed until further notice from this Friday evening. The town hall of Anglet took this decision because of the weather conditions which favor the fires. Namely an episode of droughtcombined with “relatively strong” southerly winds expected on Saturday.

The decision was taken in consultation with the National Forestry Office (ONF). Forest estates will be reopened as soon as weather conditions permit. Since the Chiberta fire, July 30, 2020, the municipality has reinforced vigilance measures. The Chiberta forest had that year been ravaged by flames over 75 hectares.
