Johanne Grenier and Simon Langlois like space and physical activities. They were the first to water ski between Île d’Orléans and their house when they built it on the banks of the river, in Lévis, in 1999. Now in their sixties, they are turning the page and sell their 23-room home that they have occupied… without children!

“We didn’t have any children, but we like it when it’s big! says Johanne Grenier. We have always welcomed many people into our home. To be great is great! With 3500 sq.ft.2 of living space, the sellers were at ease in their home built near the Pointe de la Martinière.

In 1998, they were already living in Lévis, but wanted to have access to the river. “We found this quiet land by the water,” said Ms.me Attic. We are in the woods, near the Martinière park, a protected site. You can go snowshoeing and cross-country skiing here. And in summer, there is the bike path. It’s of all beauty. »

We have a view of Quebec and the Côte-de-Beaupré. We see all day cruise ships, container ships and sailboats pass in front of us. There’s always something going on on the river, summer and winter alike.

Simon Langlois, owner

The house is quiet, without visual contact with the neighborhood, and three minutes from shops, a hospital, schools and Highway 20. Its living spaces are bright, with PVC windows and bay windows throughout. . The view of the St. Lawrence River is breathtaking.

Well equipped

On the ground floor, a large modern kitchen with a granite countertop is next to a dining room, a glass-roofed living room, an office, a boudoir and a laundry room. A gazebo has been added to the house to relax, as well as a two-seater garage. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms are located upstairs, in addition to a fully equipped loft, located above the garage, with an electric fireplace and a separate entrance.

At the garden level, a family room includes a bar section, a piano corner, a living room, a wood fireplace and an exercise room. A workshop and an additional garage space have been added. The garden level leads to the in-ground swimming pool (heated), near which an outdoor kitchen, a patio and a volleyball court have been set up. “There is also the possibility of creating a heliport next door,” says Mme Attic.

Skylights have been drilled in the glass roof and the loft. They have been subject to infiltration, as is often the case, because of the accumulation of snow which melts on the windows and turns into ice. Simon Langlois therefore recommends clearing snow from the roof regularly to avoid this inconvenience.

The house is air-conditioned and heated with electricity, oil and wood. “But we are in the process of changing the whole heating system, says Mme Attic. We are going to have a heat pump installed in the coming weeks. » The floors are mainly hardwood. For the canopy and the garden level, they were created with planks taken from the oaks on the ground. In the master bathroom, the floor is marble. And it’s ceramic in the kitchen.

The asphalt shingle roof was redone in 2016 and the exterior paint work, carried out regularly, specifies Mr. Langlois. “I’m in the construction industry, so as soon as there’s a small business to do, it doesn’t last long,” he says.

Enjoy the river

To be closer to the river, and given the area of the land (89,000 sq.2), the owners built a cottage near the shore last year. They use it in the summer for sports activities. “We stay there, downstairs, during the day, for our nautical outings,” says Johanne Grenier. In the evening, we make ourselves a fire. We look at the lights of Quebec…”

When the tide is low, Johanne Grenier and Simon Langlois walk on the shore. If they take too long, they always have the option of climbing the cape to return home. “It is sure that we will cry a little bit when we are going to leave, says Mme Attic. But hey, we’re getting old. At some point, the energy is less there. We want to experience other things. But it is a unique corner. There is no comparable land along the river in our area. “Currently, when we telecommute, it’s ideal,” adds Mr. Langlois. With this house, no need to go into exile in the countryside. You are there! It’s the countryside in town! »
