An announcement with a conspiratorial feel. After the departure of the emblematic Franck Haise, RC Lens has lifted the veil on the name of its new coach: as expected, it is the promising Will Still, 31, dismissed by Stade de Reims at the end of the season last. And the way of announcing it is so to speak… original! His taste for fries and his studies in a former mining area were particularly highlighted to indicate what could have seemed obvious: his arrival with the Sang et Or.

Far from this improbable and highly complicated thesis, his arrival in Lens lands is not shocking. Eager to go and coach in England, one of his two countries with Belgium, Will Still ultimately only made it halfway by stopping in Lens, where he was appointed for a period of three years and where he will take over from the Franck Haise-Arnaud Pouille tandem, behind the success of the Artesian club in recent seasons.

The Sang et Or thus opted for a promising coach, who arrived at just 30 years old on the bench at Stade de Reims, with certain popularity in Ligue 1 thanks to his endearing personality and his often frank speeches. His sometimes explosive character will contrast with the calm of Franck Haise, even with his style of play.

The Anglo-Belgian is not the only reinforcement of RC Lens, a club now largely reshuffled internally in recent weeks: Arnaud Pouille has given way to Pierre Dréossi as general manager, while Diego Lopez Gomez is in charge of recruitment, Jean-Louis Leca is sports coordinator and Benjamin Parrot promoted to deputy general manager. All in a new chapter placed under the sign of “financial rigor”in the words of President Joseph Oughourlian.
