“The only way to pay homage to the sacred monsters is to sing their songs in a different way”, confides Angélique Kidjo

It is with a new album, Queen of Sheba, that Angélique Kidjo is making her big comeback. She will be in concert at the Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris), on June 11. How to describe this moment on stage? “I don’t know what heaven looks like, but if it looks like what I feel on stage, the day I die, the good Lord must expect a mess not possible. I’m going to concerts every days”specifies Angélique Kidjo.

For his concert, the artist decided to take up sacred monsters of French song. “These sacred monsters are, always will be, no one can replace them. The only way to honor them is to sing their songs in a different way to allow them to continue to live with us”, assures Angelique Kidjo. In 2021, Times magazine named her one of the 100 most influential women in the world. “I do not claim influence, I do what I can when asked to do so”says the singer.
