Jean Castex begins Monday, December 13 a two-day visit to Marseille to ensure the follow-up of the city’s renovation plan, “Marseille en Grand”, launched on September 2 by Emmanuel Macron. This is 1.5 billion euros to improve safety, public transport, or renovate schools, hospitals and social housing.

Among all the announcements of the President of the Republic, the most unexpected was the Odysseo project. France intends, via a foundation, to act for the preservation of the Mediterranean ecosystem.

The first stage of Odysseo is an emblematic building, which seemed impossible given the Marseille political context: the town hall on the left, the metropolis and the region on the right. The file seems to be moving forward, explains Cyprien Fontvieille, co-founder of Odysseo: “We have already started to move forward on the location, near the Old Port, to raise awareness of issues related to ecological and environmental transition in the Mediterranean. It should therefore open by 2026 since this is the announcement of the President of the Republic. “

Beyond the building, there are concrete projects. Odysseo, for example, published a study which shows that pleasure boats could use clean energy in the most fragile areas. Michel Lamberti, the president of the Federation of nautical societies of Bouches-du-Rhône, approves: “The idea of leaving with your own boat, but equipped with an electric motor of‘accompaniment just to get out of the ports and preserve the 300m strip, that’s a smart thing in my opinion. “

Bringing the 450,000 boats registered in the French Mediterranean up to environmental standards would create thousands of non-relocatable jobs and relaunch a sector that is at the end of its rope. Odysseo could then have initiated a major economic project.
