In France, this summer, the number of business failures increased by 69% this summer compared to summer 2021.Meeting with Severine Cardin who, after five years of activity in her decoration shop, is going to shut down.

In Séverine’s “Faux sans blanc” decoration shop Cardintime is running out. In a few weeks, his business will close, for lack of customers. So, you have to sell everything before returning the keys. Before asking for a judicial liquidation, Séverine did everything to save her business, in vain. It has thus multiplied the discounts, sold her car and even left his accommodation. But with inflation and rising energy prices, her customers are spending less. Result: not possible for it to repay its loans, in particular its loan guaranteed by the State.

“These loans, you have to repay them, and that comes on top of the ‘debts’ that we already have”explains Séverine Cardin. While waiting to find a new job, she can count on the RSA. This summer, the number of failures ofcompanies increased by 69% compared to summer 2021. In total, over one year, 38,000 businesses went out of business. The main sectors affected by these failures are retail, catering and construction. In most cases, these are small businesses with less than ten employees.
