A heat dome causes temperatures to rise in the Northern Hemisphere. Several countries are faced with temperatures that sometimes exceed 40 degrees.

Long boulevards transformed into a scorching desert. In Arizona (USA), oppressive heat is an enemy. Living outside, even for a few minutes, is impossible. “It is so hot. I feel like someone is pouring hot sauce down my back”says a local resident. In the western United States, it is 46 degrees in Phoenix, and more than 54 degrees are expected in California’s Death Valley.

41 degrees in Athens

In Europe, it is 41 degrees in Greece. For the third consecutive time, the Acropolis will close during the day, because the temperatures cause discomfort among tourists. In Spain, peaks at 42 degrees are expected. The Canary Island is also affected by the fires. In Morocco, meteorologists expect 47 degrees. “Typically, these episodes last between unotth week and ten days. But human influence increases the duration of these phenomena”precise Christophe Cassou, climatologist.
