After two missed meetings in 2018 and 2022, NHL players will return to the Olympic Games in 2026, in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, and in 2030. Which ends a 12-year absence from the best players in the world.
The NHL, the Players’ Association and the International Federation made the official announcement Friday during a press briefing on the sidelines of the All-Star Game.
In PyeongChang in 2018, Gary Bettman chose not to interrupt the NHL schedule, mainly due to a disagreement over insurance. For the 2022 Olympics, the NHL made an about-face quite late due to the risks linked to COVID-19.
More details to come.
