The National School of Humor will move to the Latin Quarter

The Minister of Culture and Communications, Mathieu Lacombe, announced this Friday financial assistance of 13.5 million to the National School of Humor so that it can acquire a larger building located in the Latin Quarter, on rue Saint-Denis.

The relocation of the École nationale de l’humour (ÉNH), which has been located in the Lafontaine building at 2120 rue Sherbrooke since 2004, was justified by the fact that the current spaces were now “unsuitable” and had become “too cramped”, according to the school’s management.

The ÉNH relocation project includes the renovation of the buildings at 1635-1643, rue Saint-Denis, across from the petite rue Émery. There was also talk of “highlighting the heritage features” of the new building. The exact date of the relocation has not yet been set.

Founded in 1988 by actress Louise Richer, the National School of Humor has trained more than 500 creators, authors, screenwriters and comedians to date.

Further details will follow.
