This commission of inquiry heard about sixty people. For the deputy Jean-Félix Acquaviva, its president, the hearing of a prison guard only reinforced the “contradictions” and the “grey areas” in this affair.
The commission of inquiry of the National Assembly, responsible for shedding light on the death in prison of Yvan Colonna, will deliver its conclusions on May 25, learned franceinfo, Monday, April 24, from the president of this commission, Jean- Felix Acquaviva. Since the start of its work last January, the commission has heard from some sixty people.
>>> Commission of inquiry into the death of Yvan Colonna: the supervisor of the prison of Arles defends herself from any breach
On March 15, the commission of inquiry spoke at a press conference of a possible “data erasure” sensitive within the prison administration. At the heart of these suspicions: alerts issued by a supervisor of the prison of Arles, the day before the attack on Yvan Colonna by a fellow prisoner, Franck Elong-Abé.
According to the commission, these alerts were never sent to it and did not appear in the software in question either. Questioned by franceinfo, Jean-felix Acquaviva had explained that“As of January 29, 2022, until the facts, there was no trace of any sighting. All of this is very disturbing and can only fuel the fact that we are trying to hide something.”
A change of attitude by Franck-Elong Abé
Heard by this commission on April 4, the supervisor at the origin of these observations for her part affirmed to have reported orally to her hierarchical superiors. She said in particular that she had overheard a conversation between three prisoners, one of whom had said “I’m going to kill him”, the day before the attack on Yvan Colonna. Before the commission of inquiry, however, she assured that she had not provided this alert in writing in the Genesis software because “[elle] didn’t know[t] not who had spoken, or who he was talking about”.
This supervisor also says that she observed a change in Franck-Elong Abé’s attitude a few weeks before the attack, in particular the fact that he was gradually emptying his cell. On this point, she claims to have entered these observations in writing into the software. According to Jean-Felix Acquaviva, this observation did not however appear in the extraction of the software provided to the commission of inquiry.“I may have incorrectly validated or made a bad manipulation”, recognized the supervisor.
For Jean Felix Acquaviva, still at franceinfo, this hearing only reinforced the “contradictions” and the “shadow areas” in that case. The MP for Haute-Corse believes that the possibility of legal proceedings on this issue “is still on the table.”
Sentenced for the assassination of the prefect of Corsica, Claude Érignac, Yvan Colonna was serving a life sentence in the central house of Arles. On March 2, 2022, he was beaten and suffocated by Franck Elong-Abé, a radicalized fellow prisoner. He died of his injuries a few weeks later.
