The Musée de la civilization unveils the work of an Aboriginal artist

(Montreal) The Museum of Civilization in Quebec today unveiled a new work by an Indigenous artist on the occasion of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Witness coveragemade by master carver Carey Newman, a member of the Kwakwaka’wakw and Coast Salish First Nations, is inspired by the drama of residential schools.

The twelve meter long installation comprises 800 pieces, including hair braids, black and white photographs and a hockey trophy.

Museum visitors will be able to see the work at the museum until next February.
