Very popular as a tourist destination in summer, the MRC de Papineau also wants to become so in winter and has launched its winter tourist promotional campaign.
A map offering hundreds of attractions has been produced to encourage people to visit the entire MRC in winter. A quarter of these attractions are different from the menu produced for the summer season.
“We know that in the summer, we have many attractions that are put forward, underlines Jessy Laflamme, rural development officer – tourism component at the MRC de Papineau. In winter, we have just as many. But it is promoted less. “
“We thought it was important to showcase them because we want people to come in winter as well, not just summer. We want to allow our promoters to be better known, more seen. “
The winter tourist offer in the MRC de Papineau revolves a lot around the outdoors, like summer. We are talking about ice fishing, cross-country ski trails, snowmobiling and icy trails.
New features are appearing this winter, in particular the illuminated tube slide at the Parc des Montagnes Noires, fat bike in Montebello and snowshoeing at the Heritage Inn.
“We have a lot of attractions that are renewing themselves,” says Mr.me The flame. It’s interesting to be able to put them forward. We have hidden treasures in winter, but we no longer want them to be hidden. “
English speaking clientele
The MRC de Papineau is well located even though it is close to Ottawa and Montreal. And even Mont-Tremblant, when it can become an interesting option for people who normally go to this area.
The MRC is relying heavily on its new website to boost all of its tourist attractions. There are more than 300 listed for the whole year, says Jessy Laflamme.
This new site has also been translated into English, a novelty for the MRC de Papineau this year. This change aims to reach the English-speaking clientele of Ottawa and Montreal, among others.
