“The Month of the Dead”, an investigation by Maud Graham by Chrystine Brouillet

Author Chrystine Brouillet returns with a new thriller which features her favorite heroine, Maud Graham, who investigates deaths that occurred in the fall. The story opens with the tense relationship between teenager Lucien — who lost his mother to COVID-19 — and his father Marc-Aurèle Jutras, an unsympathetic man who rejects his son’s homosexuality. Against the backdrop of a pandemic, the story gradually reveals a constellation of characters who in their own way represent problems exacerbated by the health crisis, such as loneliness, homelessness, overdoses and love scams. With her skillful pen, the writer guides us to the heart of the reasonings of seasoned investigator Maud Graham – also nicknamed “Biscuit”. The latter has lost none of her skill in carrying out research that keeps the reader in suspense until the end.
