The Ultra-Trail of Mont-Blanc
For lovers of competition and challenges, “Ma France, l’été” receives Isabel Poletti, director of the UTMB, Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc. The UTMB ® which takes place until August 28 is an unmissable event for trail runners from all over the world: each year, the best athletes meet in Chamonix and nearly 10,000 runners take part in one of the seven the event.
Chamonix, a paradise for hikers and mountaineers
But Chamonix is above all a paradise for hikers: Morgane Raylatcommunication officer at the Chamonix Tourist Office, offers us a selection of hikes: go to the blog “Behind the scenes of the Chamonix Valley” where you can find tourist news, news, initiatives environmental.
Francois Damilanomountaineer, mountain guide, writer, director, tells us about mountaineering and its birth in Chamonix, and in particular the story of the Pilier Bonatti au Dru (named after the mountaineer Walter Bonatti who climbed it for the first time in 1955) which collapsed in 2003.
Remarkable Chamoniards
Didier Simond is a winter ski instructor and a carpenter-cutler. He created the “Chamoniard” knife and offers a range of folding knives whose handle represents the shape of Mont-Blanc and the pyrography the first ascent of the summit by Jacques Balmat in 1786.
For the “green initiative”, “Ma France, l’été” gives the floor to Olivier Greberpresident of the Compagnie des guides de Chamonix, and Daniel Rodriguesco-director of the company and mid-mountain guide, who present to us the educational awareness-raising actions they carry out, particularly among young people, for the preservation of the mountain environment, through their FOEHN foundation (Fund for environment and high nature).
