At 79, Serge Lama has just unveiled his ultimate album to end his incredible career with panache. A decision that was not easy to make, as he told our colleagues from The voice of the North. His countless health concerns got the better of him…
“Psychologically, everything is fine. My disc receives a good reception. I didn’t expect him to make such a fuss either. Physically, it’s another story… I’m damaged and it’s getting worse and worse with the passing years”revealed the husband of Luana Santonino. “As I was seriously injured in an accident, and I still underwent 14 operations at the time, well that leaves traces in every corner. I limp, I have a pinched nerve and therefore almost permanent sciatica, it’s hard… Here’s how I’m doing”.
“I wanted to rewrite the text for myself…”
For 60 years, Serge Lama has flourished in the music industry. Before bowing out, the artist wanted to make an impression with his art. Successful bet – for example – with one of his titles “The men I love” from his new opus. “It’s a song that I had started writing for Johnny”, underlined Serge Lama. “You will realize that when you listen to it again. But I never managed to reach it. I wanted to rewrite the text for myself. What I did… The men I love are the men who don’t give in if you want them to change their minds or their path, the men who don’t let go, who go all the way … The men I love are Camus, Jean Moulin”.
In any case, the interpreter of “P’tites Femmes de Pigalle” could well surprise his fans in other areas. “I have lots of projects. I will perhaps attack my bio, which I am asked a lot. There have been unauthorized bios, we can’t prevent it”dropped the singer and concluded: “But I would like to write my story without going back to things that are known to everyone, by trying to write a more original author bio, even if it is short…”
