The mayor of Vernet François Balique told Agence Radio France on Friday June 28 that he had signed the death certificate of Petit Émile, who disappeared on July 8, 2023 in Haut-Vernet in the Alpes-de-Provence, confirming information from the regional newspaper Provence.

This death certificate was signed in the presence of a police officer, three months after the discovery of Little Emile’s bones on March 30. His skull had been found by a walker in a forest not far from the hamlet. A few days later, clothes and other bones had also been discovered.

However, these discoveries have still not made it possible to explain the death of the child and extensive expertise is continuing in Pontoise, at the Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN).

The signing of this death certificate is “a simple administrative act”the mayor told Agence Radio France, which has nothing to do with the ongoing investigation.
