The Valence court has acquitted the environmentalist mayor of Grenoble, Eric Piolle, in the case of suspicions of favoritism in the awarding of a public contract in the city, reports France Bleu Isère on Tuesday 25 October. All the other defendants were also released.
The trial of the mayor and his six co-defendants – former territorial agents and the Fusées association – a month ago. They were tried because they were suspected of being responsible for or benefiting from the absence of a call for tenders for the organization of the first two editions of the Fête des Tuiles in Grenoble in 2015 and 2016. Their organization had been directly entrusted to the Fusées association.
The court followed the requisitions of the prosecution, which had not asked for a prison sentence for anyone. On Twitter, the mayor held “to emphasize the quality of the adversarial debate during the trial” and claimed to be “in the service of justice”.
