While the Allonnes mosque (Sarthe) was officially closed on Wednesday October 27 by the Sarthe prefecture for a period of six months, the lawyer for the two associations managing the place of worship announced Thursday that she is seizing the administrative court to suspend this decision, reports France Bleu Maine, Thursday, October 28.
The mosque has been targeted since October 13 by an investigation for “apology for terrorism” and “provocation to commit terrorist acts”. On Monday, the prefecture announced its decision to administrative closure of the mosque. This measure has been in effect since Wednesday evening.
This mosque, managed by two local associations, the Allonnaise Association for the Golden Mean and the Al Qalam Association, is “frequented by individuals belonging to or close to the radical Islamist movement”, the prefecture explained on October 13.
The lawyer of the managing associations therefore filed an interim relief, hoping “to understand what the Allonnes mosque is”. The place of worship is, according to her, far from the accusations leveled against the leaders of the mosque. The case is examined Friday before the administrative court of Nantes.
