The 48-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his wife and 15-year-old teenager, before being shot dead by the police on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, is a police officer from the Royal Gendarmerie of Canada (RCMP).

According to our sources, Abdou Thiam attacked his girlfriend and her 15-year-old son with a knife in the early hours of the morning, in the family residence on rue du Biat, located in the heart of a residential area and generally very quiet. .
An 8-year-old girl was also inside the house at the time of the tragedy. She was not injured.
It was Abdou Thiam himself who reportedly contacted 911 shortly after 2 a.m., claiming that he had just “committed irreparable harm”.
When the police arrived on the scene, Thiam still had his knife in his hands and was waiting for the police outside his residence.
“He was very aggressive,” said a police source familiar with the investigation.
According to our information, the police dispatched to the scene would have first tried to subdue the suspect using an electric pulse gun (Taser gun), but in vain.
The agents would have finally opened fire in the direction of Thiam, who was mortally wounded. He would have received at least one bullet in the head, according to our sources.
Once inside the house, officers reportedly found the two bloodied victims, who were taken to hospital in critical condition.
Both the woman and the teenager lay between life and death in hospital.
The investigation into the double murder attempt is led by the Sûreté du Québec, while that relating to the dramatic intervention of the police is led by the Bureau of Independent Investigations.
