The Madeleine site celebrates craftsmen and the farming world

Louis Hamelin Co-responsible for the Prehistoric Site of the Madeleine has eyes that shine when he talks to us about the “Madeleine d’antan”, a family project carried out as a family, and which is spreading its wings for the 3rd time in two years, the September 24 and 25!

On the program of this new edition: 2 days devoted to the transmission of ancestral trades, such as the trades of the forge, or those of the size of stones, or even the manufacture of bread and desserts and their cooking in the communal oven which has been restored, but also to Périgord family games with the organization of peasant Olympics, as well as to know-how related to the environment and living things, here is among other things that you can discover with your family. On Saturday evening there will be a banquet organized as before confides Louis Hamelin, and it is strongly advised to reserve your place to be sure to be able to taste the hotpot which will simmer in a huge pot for long hours, and which will be tasted in bread.

Various workshops will be organized such as animal tracking in the forest, demonstrations of grafting techniques, cuttings and plantations and many other activities. The site is also turned towards the future, and wishes to develop eco-responsible approaches with visitors, so that they are actors in the preservation of the site. This also involves reasonable and reasoned tourism, and raising awareness of simple but essential actions to preserve the place, just as the first inhabitants did.

La Madeleine d’Antan, in partnership with France Bleu Périgord – Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September 2022 on the prehistoric site of the Madeleine. Information, timetables and reservations here –
