The left and the New Popular Front will return to politics on Thursday, August 22, with the traditional summer universities, while Emmanuel Macron has yet to appoint a Prime Minister.
Who says political rentrée says summer university, a tradition to which the left does not deviate… in a relatively dispersed order. From Thursday August 22, the ecologists will meet in Tours (Indre-et-Loire), the Insoumis in Châteauneuf-sur-Isère (Drôme) and the communists in Montpellier (Hérault) from Friday. The socialists, for their part, will meet in Blois (Loir-et-Cher) the following week.
However, the NFP will have to show a united front in Emmanuel Macron’s office on Friday, during his consultations with a view to forming a new government. A front that will nevertheless be disunited during the summer universities, because the coalition also intends to respect the militant identities of each party, according to a political scientist. However, the common denominator at these left-wing universities is Lucie Castets, who will make an appearance at each of the demonstrations. The disagreements within the left-wing coalition will have to be resolved before the start of the school year, particularly around the dismissal of the president wanted by La France Insoumise.
