By the richness and diversity of its landscapes, from the countryside, to the forest and to the ocean, the department has become a land in great demand for filming for films or series. Because if the coast remains the preferred setting for directors, in recent years we have seen filming inland, towards Saint-Sever, Dax, Mont-de-Marsan, Sore or Luxey for example. And since 2018 there has been a service of the Departmental Council dedicated to these requests, the Bureau d’Accueil des Filmings or BAT, which accompanies, organizes, offers sites, accommodation, lists local technicians and actors.
We have already seen on the small or large screen: “Papi-Sitter” with Gérard Lanvin Olivier Marchal in particular, “My Better Half”, “The Year of the Shark”, “This summer”, “The promise”, “Murders in the Landes”and soon we will see the series “Prometheus” or the feature film “The Colossus with Feet of Clay” with Eric Cantona.

In 2021, the department even broke a record with 212 days of filming placing itself in the regional ranking of the most popular destinations. This year about ten shootings are scheduled. With, each time, economic benefits for hoteliers, cafetiers, restaurateurs and professionals, and for the people of the Landes, the pleasure of recognizing familiar landscapes on the big or small screen. And sometimes a simple figuration can extend into a beautiful story, this is the case of the dacquois Frédéric Abdelkader, a civil servant in everyday life who has been filming since a first casting, passed almost by chance in 2018 for the TV movie “Murder in the Landes”.
