the Israeli army says it has carried out dozens of ground operations in Lebanon for several months

The Israeli army has begun to provide details of the ground intervention in Lebanon launched on the night of Monday September 30 to Tuesday October 1, which notably mobilized commandos from the Egoz unit. The general staff claims to have launched a targeted ground operation limited to several areas of southern Lebanon with the aim of “destroy terrorist infrastructure” of the Hezbollah movement. He adds that he located a rocket launcher site and explosive charges hidden in a bunker, and destroyed a complex used by Islamist militia fighters.

More broadly, the Israeli army claims to have carried out dozens of anti-terrorist operations in Lebanese territory since October 7. It broadcasts several videos purporting to show facilities abandoned by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, such as tunnels and weapons caches. The army accuses the militia of having built infrastructure in villages near the border with Israel for decades. The Israeli army adds that the objective pursued during its missions was to “neutralize and destroy the capacity of [mouvement] to carry out a surprise attack in the north” of Israel.
