the Islamic State terrorist group in Khorasan “has carried out several attempts in recent months” in France, declares Emmanuel Macron

After raising the Vigipirate security plan to its highest level, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced that two attack plans have been “foiled” in France since the beginning of 2024, during a visit to Saint-Lazare station in Paris to greet the police, Monday March 25. The head of government specified that 45 attacks have been foiled since 2017 and that 760 radicalized foreigners have been returned to the border over the past seven years. “Our hand will never tremble in the face of terrorism”he concluded.

This trip comes a few hours after Emmanuel Macron’s declaration on the Islamic State terrorist group in Khorasan, which claimed responsibility for the attack against the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow which left 137 dead: the president said from Guyana, that this same terrorist organization “has attempted to touch French soil several times.”

“The information available to our services, like our main partners, indicates that it was an entity of the Islamic State which instigated this attack and carried it out”declared the President of the Republic as he left the plane. “This particular group, which is apparently involved in this attack, has carried out several attempts on our soil in recent months.”

The decision to upgrade the Vigipirate plan to the “emergency attack” level is therefore “a coherent measure”socket “as a precautionary measure, but with credible and solid elements”, believes the head of state. This decision was taken on Sunday evening following a defense council at the Elysée. Matignon said the terrorist organization had already “been involved in several recent foiled attack plans in several European countries, including Germany and France”.
