The irresistible rise of the Toulouse violinist Manon Galy, soloist revelation at the Victories of Classical Music 2022

It was at her home, in Toulouse, that Manon Galy received France 3 that day, surrounded by those who encouraged her to live her passion for the violin, her parents, her grandmother and her first teachers. As a teenager, she moved to the capital to take classes at the CNSM (National Conservatory of Music). “Suddenly, our family vacations became my violin courses because I often did two courses per summer. I was doing competitions in Russia, Italy, and my parents came with me. My grandparents took me to Paris too, for lessons, competitions. And I had my aunts who took over too when my parents couldn’t“, says the young woman of 26 years, who started the violin at just 7 years old.

The potential was seen right away

For this meeting, Marion Galy found three of her first violin teachers. Caroline Etave remembers the will of the little girl: “One weekend, she went to see a concert, and the next week, she arrived in class, she was straight, from the height of her seven years, she was imitating and wanted to be as beautiful and do as well. And the second year frankly, it went very quickly, and the potential was seen right away“.

“I don’t know where she will go, but in any case now, it’s her, and she has the means to be herself and to bring something to others through music.“, adds Klaus Mühlberger, another of her teachers at the Toulouse Conservatory. An opinion undoubtedly shared by Renaud Capuçon who took her under his wing and accompanies and advises her, like five other young violin talents, within of his production company Beau Soir Productions.

Like him twenty-two years earlier, Manon Galy was crowned “Instrumental Soloist Revelation” at the Victoires de la Musique 2022. Today she performs regularly with internationally renowned orchestras and is invited to many festivals such as those of the Chaise-Dieu, the Roque d’Anthéron or the Folle Journée de Nantes. A few weeks ago, Manon Galy released Parisian nights, a duet album with his accomplice the pianist Jorge Gonzalez Buajasan, on the Aparte label. On May 19, she will give her first concerto with the prestigious Orchester national du Capitole, at the Halle aux grains in Toulouse.
