On Friday, June 28, the 36 inhabitants of La Bérarde, in Isère, will return to their hamlet for the first time in a week, after the violent floods that inundated and then buried the area. However, this will only last a few hours, the time to collect belongings.It’s almost a pilgrimage“, deplores one of the victims.
A meticulously prepared departure with the help of maps, with firefighters and police officers. Because the area has been in the grip of intense flooding since last Friday. Access to the only road that serves the surrounding hamlets is conditioned by the moods of the watercourse. Every day, machines are busy clearing and restoring access to the area. But sometimes everything has to be started again, because the melting ice sometimes causes the water to rise.
