On the front line in Ukraine, the fighting remains fierce. A team from France Télévisions was able to enter a small town, which the Ukrainians have just taken back from the Russians. However, they are still shelled by the Russians.

A missile fell on the school of Dvoritchna (Ukraine), Saturday October 29th. A house in front of the establishment is on fire. The city was recently liberated by the Ukrainian army, but the Russians are still bombing. The civilians are terrorized, even if they are rid of the occupants. “I’m a teacher here, and I can’t imagine what we’ll do without our school”cries a woman. “It bombs every day”adds a man.

A drone flies over the area, a sign that a second strike is imminent. The inhabitants fall back to the nearest shelter. The mayor of the city, Galina Turbaba, is there. Throughout the occupation, she refused to collaborate with the Russians. Imprisoned for 88 years, she never gave in, despite psychological torture. “They want to come back, and I believe they will do anything to make this place a scorched earth. I don’t understand how men can do this to other men”, she comments. This massive destruction, still in progress in the liberated villages, is noted by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
