While the government ordered the first requisitions on Wednesday October 12, some cannot wait any longer. This is the case of a liberal nurse who has to make daily rounds in a rural area near Nancy to take care of her patients.

Every day, Joëlle Albertini, a freelance nurse for 13 years in Meurthe-et-Moselle, travels 200 km to visit her patients. With the shortage of gasoline, his daily life has become more than difficult. “There, I’m at 300 km of autonomy (…) we do an average of 200 km per day so here we go, by tomorrow, if I don’t fill up, it’s going to be complicated”she explains. His patients are mostly elderly people or children unable to move.

If health professionals are not prioritized at the pump, Joëlle will have to make choices. “We will have to prioritize the care of everything that is mandatory such as injections (..) without insulin, these are complications”explains the nurse. “If we have more nurses, we have nothing left, we just have to die”plague one of his patients. Tonight, Joëlle will sleep in her office to save 40 km of gas.
