The Sûreté du Québec revealed Thursday the identity of the three people who died following the violent explosion that occurred a week earlier in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan.
They are Céline Pilon, 65 years old, living in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, France Desrosiers, 65 years old and resident of Epiphany, as well as Christophe Paradis, a 26-year-old Mascouchois. . They were employees and subcontractors of Propane Lafortune, devastated on January 12 by an explosion which gave rise to a violent fire, forcing evacuations in a perimeter of one kilometer around the site.
The intervention of about fifty firefighters, several from the neighboring municipalities of Sainte-Julienne, Saint-Lin-Laurentides, Rawdon and Repentigny, was necessary to overcome the blaze, which was brought under control in the evening.
The bodies were found four days after the search began. Expertise was carried out on the remains by the Laboratory of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine of the SQ in order to establish their identity with certainty.
The cause of the explosion is still unknown, a week after the tragedy.
According to Sergeant Éloise Cossette, of the SQ media relations department, the expertise of the scene of the drama should continue for a few more days. The Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Sûreté du Québec is also continuing its work.
