The husband of Congressional Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi was “violently attacked”, Friday, October 28, at the couple’s home and hospitalized, announced his spokesperson.
“Early this morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi”Drew Hammill said in a statement, adding that Nancy Pelosi was not on site at the time of the attack.
The suspect taken into custody
Paul Pelosi, 82, was transferred to hospital, where he is receiving“excellent care”, the spokesperson added. The suspect was taken into custody. His motives are under investigation.
Less than two weeks before the mid-term elections, several American elected officials have sounded the alarm against the renewed violence targeting them. According to Capitol Police, tasked with protecting members of Congress, threats against them have more than doubled since 2017, from 3,939 to 9,625 in 2021.
