At the start of the day, Friday June 3, 2022, our colleagues from Télérama announced the upcoming departure of Laurent Ruquier from the presentation of We are live on France 2. The host occupied the second part of the evening on Saturday evening since 2006 and the discontinuation of Everybody talks about it by Thierry Ardisson. “It’s no secret: I’m going to leave this box”, confided the host a few days ago. Hugo Manos’ companion will host his last issue live tomorrow, Saturday June 4, before several best-of broadcasts until the end of the month.
After the dissemination of information in many media, Laurent Ruquier wished to speak on the networks in order to give his version of the facts. “Since the information has been published, I confirm that tomorrow night will be my last Saturday night show after 17 seasons together“, he began. “It’s my decision to leave this time slot“, he explains, justifying his choice by the recent changes linked to the arrival of Léa Salamé in co-hosting. Laurent Ruquier evokes an exercise “frustrating“in which he was not”uncomfortable” And this, “despite my natural understanding with Léa Salamé“.
“Animating for two is easy, but a talk show is more complicated. I wanted to see what it was going to be like. It’s true that it’s not easy. It’s quite frustrating for Léa Salamé as for me”, he specified to Télérama recently. Despite good audiences, the latter seems somewhat tired of the challenge in this rather singular time slot. “It’s a box that has become more and more difficult, unlike many others “, he explains.
“Thank you again to the viewers for being so faithful to me for all these years. Thank you to the known or less known artists, writers, singers, comedians and comedians for trusting me to offer more visibility to their cultural activities. I will miss them“, wrote the host of the Big heads who confirms that he will continue to officiate well on France Télévisions, in particular with The children of the TV every weekend.
