“Of course he gets out of his role”declared the deputy of Guyana Jean-Victor Castor, guest of franceinfo Thursday May 16, who reacted to the remarks made by Louis Le Franc, the high commissioner of the Republic in New Caledonia in particular on the field action coordination cell (CCAT) after the riots that shook the island. The CCAT is a pro-independence political body and the most radical fringe of the socialist Kanak Liberation Front (FLNKS).

“The CCAT is an organization of thugs who engage in acts of violence with the desire to kill the police. Those who are at the head of this cell are all responsible and will have to face the justice of the Republic “declared the High Commissioner of the Republic on Thursday during a press conference.

“I hear the words of the High Commissioner, I am worried. He is the responsibility of the State”, points out Jean-Victor Castor, who sits with the communists within the Democratic and Republican Left group. For him, Louis Le Franc’s declarations contradict the desire for dialogue displayed by Emmanuel Macron. “On the one hand, we propose to open dialogue and on the other hand, it [Louis Le Franc] blamed the leaders of the action group which nevertheless managed to mobilize between 40,000 and 50,000 people who were against this bill on thaw [du corps électoral]it is enormous”.

“He’s a judge? Is there an investigation underway?”still charges the Guyanese elected official. “The responsibility of a high commissioner in a situation like this is to help restore calm, not to make comments like these”insists the one who made a remarkable speech on Wednesday at the National Assembly. “We are not here within the framework of a reform such as the retirement reform. This is not a social movement that we are going to try to put down. This is a people who are claiming their full sovereignty and who made the choice to have a common destiny with everyone”declared the deputy in the hemicycle about the Kanaks. “Respect that, be humble, don’t go down this path which is a political dead end”he said to the Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal.
