Emmanuel wanted to hear all the civil parties of the trial of November 13, 2015. Survivor of the Bataclan, himself testified before the special assize court of Paris last November. A difficult moment but one that did him good. “There are many who have missed this opportunityhe confides, nearly 500 spoke out of probably 3,000 civil parties, victims directly involved, inevitably there is not enough space. But it is sure that it rebuilds things and I think that the civil parties also seek to verify that they are in a community of civil parties.

More than 350 people were heard last November. But these five weeks of hearing in the fall had not made it possible to hear all those who wanted it. So, for ten days, and until Friday May 20, nearly a hundred survivors and relatives of victims of the attacks on the Stade de France, the terraces and the Bataclan testified, after eight months of debate, on the approximately 2 300 civil parties.
For Georges Salines, of the association Fraternité et Vérité, this division of the civil party hearings into two stages has been beneficial for certain victims. “The sequence that ends now is both useful because it puts the victims back somewhat at the center of the trial at the endhe acknowledges, so it’s quite a good thing from my point of view, and then it gave us the opportunity to hear all those who were reluctant to come and testify precisely.”
“It was interesting in itself to hear from people who initially didn’t think they would come to testify and who eventually did.”

The trial now enters without its home stretch with the pleadings of the victims’ lawyers. The verdict is expected at the end of June.
