The government wants to relaunch the fight against gender stereotypes at school and conduct consultations with teachers, parents and local elected officials within a few weeks, according to information from France Inter.
The government intends to tackle these gender stereotypes from an early age in school. “Boys are too often brought up in an ideal of strength, of virility, when we still tend to associate girls with gentleness or submission.“, explains a ministerial adviser close to the file.
Also according to information from France Inter, the Minister of National Education Pap Ndiaye and his colleague in charge of Equality between women and men Isabelle Rome have started work on this subject. Their two cabinets have held several meetings recently, in conjunction with Matignon. Pap Ndiaye’s entourage confirms that “he talks about it to the unions or the teachers he meets“.
Consultations with the players concerned will take place in the coming weeks, from the end of September if the calendar allows it. The start of the 2023 school year is a fixed objective. A law in force already provides for a “sexual and emotional life education“, but it is not or little applied, according to the executive.
