The union of nursery and elementary school teachers, FSU-SNUipp, is launching a bicycle tour of France on Monday May 13 in Roubaix (North), a “rallying cry for more egalitarian education and better working conditions”, explains the union on its website.

For three weeks, until May 29, teachers will go through twelve stages, which correspond to twelve different themes discussed at the arrival of each stage during a press conference. These include means, rural school or PE at school. The peloton will pass through the North, Marne, Vosges, Haut-Rhin, Ain, Drome, Vaucluse, Bouches-du-Rhône, Lot, Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine and Paris .

The first stage, which starts at 2 p.m., goes from Roubaix to Raismes with the theme of inclusion. “The school does not welcome students properly,” said Monday on France Bleu Nord, Alain Talleu, co-secretary of the Northern section of the FSU-SNUipp, at the initiative of the project. He demands resources “so that all students can benefit from quality support”and denounces “degraded situations”, Who “weigh on the classes which welcome these students with disabilities, but also on the other students in the class and on the families”.

The second stage, Tuesday, will link Épernay to Reims, in the Marne. On France Bleu Champagne, Wieland Métayer from FSU-Snuipp in Marne, explains on Monday that around ten teachers from his department will take part in the stage, devoted to salaries. “We are in a saturated media space, we have to manage to exist in many different ways”explains the unionist.

There will be a notebook of solutions, which will be filled in gradually and submitted to the Ministry of National Education, for the last stage in Paris, in order to “formulate something constructive and unifying”, concludes Wieland Métayer.
