One year before the World Cup, there are still adjustments to be made for the Blues. The French women’s XV was largely dominated, Saturday October 12, in Vancouver by its New Zealand counterpart (39-14), during the third and final day of pool 1 of the WXV international tournament, which took place at Canada.
Lina Queyroi’s teammates conceded seven tries, including three from winger Katelyn Vaha’akolo. Defensive generosity which was not compensated for in attack, since the Blue only scored two, in the first half, through the third center line, Emeline Gros, and captain Manae Feleu. Already struggling, the Blues even had to play with 14 men for ten minutes in the second half due to the yellow card received by third wing line Séraphine Okemba.
The Black Ferns, reigning world champions, did not let up their pressure. They had to save their honor, having suffered two setbacks in the competition since they had been beaten by Ireland (29-27) and England (49-31).
France, for its part, concluded the competition with two defeats against Canada at the start and New Zealand with a success against the United States, the only team to have no victory after three matches. The Blues finished fifth, one place behind the New Zealanders, in a group won by the English, who won three victories and finished ahead of the Irish and the Canadians.
