According to a study, the French are planning to go not too far this summer, and rather to a family home. Their budget will be on average 2,102 euros for a little over two weeks of vacation.

Nearly seven in ten French people say they intend to go on vacation during the summer of 2024. They intend to take a break without running up the bill, even if it means going less far, to France. “No boat, no ferry, no plane”declared a man encountered in Paris, on the morning of Tuesday May 28. “Holidays in the mountains [dans un] refuge”confides another.

Some will go to stay with relatives or family, in a second home. Others will reserve a place in a campsite or a lodge in a rural area. Another idea: reduce all the little extras. In Grau-du-Roi (Gard), restaurant attendance has been declining for two years. The boss, Iman Amiri, thus suggests “a daily menu for 22 main courses and desserts”. On the terraces, some tourists admit to being forced to make choices.
