The former deputy of the Pyrénées-Orientales, Jacques Cresta, died at the age of 67, according to information from France Bleu Roussillon. He had been battling a long illness for several months.
Deputy from 2012 to 2017
Jacques Cresta had been the first federal of the socialite party in the Pyrénées-Orientales, elected in 2002 then for three terms. In this position, he was the faithful right arm of Christian Bourquin, then boss of the Departmental Council.
In 2012, he took over from the UMP Daniel Mach the first constituency of the POs. Jacques Cresta then moved closer to en Marche. In 2017, Romain Grau succeeded him as deputy.
Jacques Cresta had also been a municipal councilor for Cabestany on the list of communist mayor Jean Vila. In 2014, he led the left list to the municipal elections in Perpignan where he had been severely beaten.
