It’s official since Sunday, September 4, Rui Almeida is the new coach of the Chamois Niortais. During a press conference this Monday, September 5, he was presented by the club. The Portuguese technician was very happy to arrive in Niort, a “historic Ligue 2 club”, according to him. Indeed, Rui Almeida, aged 52, knows the second division of our French championship well since he has notably trained Red Star, Troyes and SM Caen in recent years.
“I want to restore confidence to the players“, explained Rui Almeida, while the Deux-Sèvres club has only two victories in seven matches. The coach is committed for one year with optional one year and takes with him his faithful assistant, Gabriel Santos.
Even if the transfer window is closed, the Niort club has a joker to recruit a last player. “We will discuss with the new coach to find the profile he is looking for, as far as possible.“, explained the president of the Chamois Niortais, Mikaël Hanouna.
