After the entry into the running of the first big nations including Germany, the host country, the Euro continues with the third day, Sunday June 16. On the program, in particular, the first match of the France group (group D), with the opposition between the Netherlands and Poland.

Announced as one of the favorites to lift the Henri-Delaunay trophy on July 14, England will also begin their adventure in the competition against Serbia. In the same group (C), Denmark, surprise semi-finalist of the last edition, will challenge Slovenia a little earlier in the day.

The poster not to be missed: Serbia-England (9 p.m.)

If you like to watch the favorites for final victory, you will have to be in front of your TV on Sunday evening (on TF1 and beIN Sports). England will play their first minutes in this Euro against Serbia, in Gelsenkirchen. Supported by a talented generation (Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka) and experienced executives (Kyle Walker, Harry Kane), the Three Lions want to strike hard from the start and put themselves in the best conditions to win the first trophy in their history since 1966.

Opposite, Serbia, qualified for the Euro for the first time since the end of Yugoslavia, positions itself as an outsider. Led by former Marseillais Dragan Stojkovic, the Serbs can count on players well known to football fans, such as Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Dusan Tadic and Aleksandar Mitrovic, who make up the backbone of this team.

The team to watch: the Netherlands at the Polish reveal (3 p.m.)

The poster concerns two future opponents of the Blues and will necessarily interest their supporters. In Hamburg, the Dutch and Poles will cross swords to symbolically take the first place at the head of the group (on beIN Sports). Ronald Koeman’s men, eliminated in the round of 16 by the Czech Republic in 2021, want to play the leading roles again. But they have to deal with several uncertainties about the fitness of the executives, and do without the midfield leader, Frenkie de Jong, forfeited.

Last qualified in this group through the play-offs after a very complicated qualifying campaign, Poland starts this Euro with few expectations. The team of Michal Probierz, lower ranked in the Fifa rankings of the four nations that make up the group (28th), will try to show off on this first day to, perhaps, aim for a better third place. But she will have to do without her star, Robert Lewandowski, who has withdrawn from the first meeting.

The match away from the spotlight: Slovenia-Denmark (6 p.m.)

Can the surprise of the 2021 edition do it again? Wedged between a Blues group match and the England clash, the match between Danes and Slovenes (on beIN Sports), in Stuttgart, is perhaps not the one that will get people talking the most, but it is worth the detour . Denmark, semi-finalist three years ago after an incredible campaign but in difficulty since, hopes to find success and carefreeness in the game to offer themselves a new epic.

To do this, it will be necessary to start with a victory against Slovenia, a team, on paper, the weakest in the group, qualified for only the second time in its history at the Euro (after 2000). But the Slovenes have a strong element in the cages to repel the Danish offensives: Jan Oblak, captain and indisputable starter. The Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper will be a key element in the possible success of his team.
