The fire which broke out on Monday in Gironde, in the town of Saumos, and has already ravaged more than 3,700 hectares of vegetation and forest, “has not progressed” on the night of Wednesday September 14 to Thursday September 15, the prefecture announced. “The fire has not progressed. No new burned surfaces. No new evacuations”, can we read in a tweet published in the morning by the prefect of New Aquitaine, Fabienne Buccio.

The firefighters have been mobilized since Monday to contain this fire, in the heart of the Gironde already affected this summer. In total, 1,840 inhabitants were evacuated in the municipalities of Saumos and Saint-Hélène, in this southern zone of the Médoc between the seaside resort of Lacanau, on the Atlantic coast, and the Bordeaux agglomeration.
