“The flexibility that the government wants is to move a nurse, an auxiliary nurse, a respiratory therapist from one department to another, so for that, it’s no. The results are very telling in Mauricie and Center-du-Québec. Around 200 resignations, is that what we want for the entirety of Quebec without creating attraction and retention? The answer is no!” declared the president of the FIQ, Julie Bouchard, in an interview with “Salut Bonjour” on Sunday morning, in response to the Legault government which has been demanding more flexibility from union members since the start of negotiations.
Union members are also asking the government to show “flexibility”.
Ms. Bouchard believes that healthcare professionals “must have control over their working hours.”
Workers demand “that they be able to have leave when they request it, that they be able to see their work schedules several weeks in advance without it being modified to whoever wants it. hear from managers because replacement work has not been put in place.
The counter-offer made on Friday addresses matters relating to intersectoral matters, that is to say salary, parental rights, retirement, regional disparities.
Sectoral issues and working conditions are discussed “every day at the negotiating tables,” confirms the union president.
The FIQ will be on strike from tomorrow until December 14, ordering the teachers of the Common Front on strike between the 8th and the 14th and those of the Autonomous Education Federation (FAE) on an indefinite general strike since November 23. .
