To encourage the French to vote in the first round of the presidential election, Sunday, April 10, some citizens are doubling their imagination and proposals, such as transporting certain people to the polling stations.
In Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), a citizen collective has chosen to display large incitements to vote to challenge passers-by. “If people no longer take this vote, it’s a small minority that will decide for the rest. And that, for us, is no longer possible”argues Frédéric Espi, member of the citizen collective CV Street. “It’s a very good idea, because everyone says that it’s a foregone conclusion anyway, but it’s a foregone conclusion if we’re not going to vote”adds a passerby.
In the North, in Roubaix, it is through leaflets and exchanges that the members of a neighborhood committee try to convince the inhabitants to return to the polls. “I want to find people who are not convinced”develops Fatiha Touimi, director of the neighborhood committee Servir, who hopes that everyone will be able to “to convince [son] environment”. Others offer their services to transport elderly or isolated citizens. In Vallauris, near Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes), the manager of a taxi company will make three of his vehicles available on Sunday.
