The FFQ should change its name

Out of respect, logic and justice, the Fédération des femmes du Québec (FFQ), which fought in court against “Bill 21”, should change its name. Not only does she no longer represent women in Quebec, but she goes against what the majority of women in Quebec want. The FFQ has already had more than 10,000 members; it now has less than 400! Today, the FFQ defends extremist religious minorities, not in the sense of liberation for them, but by encouraging them to wear ostentatious religious signs imposed by the religious patriarchy, while a majority of women in Iran and everywhere in the world want to free themselves from it!

Mme Thérèse Casgrain, first female deputy and minister, who founded the FFQ in 1966, must be turning in her grave! She was a woman committed to the emancipation of women and campaigned tirelessly for important social and legal reforms.
