the Fête de l’Humanité arrives in Essonne with an ambitious musical program

The Fête de l’Humanité is moving. At the start of the school year, the traditional musical and political meeting of the left leaves Seine-Saint-Denis for a former air base in Essonne. After 22 years spent in La Courneuve, this mythical Ile-de-France meeting launched in 1930 by Marcel Cachin – then director of the left-wing newspaper l’Humanité – was forced to leave its mythical playground which will host the media village of 2024 Olympics.

According to the organization, it took two years of research to find a place capable and willing to host such an event. It will therefore be at Base 217, between Brétigny-sur-Orge and Le Plessis-Pâté (Essonne).

For this 87th edition, nearly 45 artists followed the movement of the “Fête de l’Huma” and will put their microphones on September 9, 10 and 11 on the various musical stages of the event. The enticing program is distinguished by its eclecticism. Big names in French song, such as the father-son duo Jacques and Thomas Dutronc, Benjamin Biolay or Camélia Jordana will rub shoulders with established rappers, such as Laylow or members of the group Sexion d’Assaut, as well as promising young artists such as Zamdane .

For fans of electronic music, two evenings called “Humacumba” on September 9 and 10 will host DJ Kiddy Smile, a great representative of voguing culture, and sets by artists who are members of the electro collective Pardonnez-nous. What to dance until the end of the night.

Gauvain Sers, Selah Sue, Christophe Maé and Danakil are also among the headliners of the Festival, seeking to satisfy a large audience. 270,000 visitors are expected in early September. A drop in attendance (the event has so far welcomed 500,000 visitors on average each year) justified according to the organization by “change and estrangement” of the place, located about 35 km from Paris, as well as by a difficult post-pandemic recovery for the festivals.

These three days of festivities will also be an opportunity to celebrate peace. Note, on the event poster: a dove. Not without an echo of the war that has been raging in Ukraine since February.

This 87th edition should finally be the occasion for a common debate between the different political forces of Nupes (LFI, EELV, PS, PCF, Generations).
