More than 48 hours after the collapse of a building on rue de Tivoli in Marseille, six bodies have been found under the rubble. Is there still hope of finding survivors? The live point of Marseille with Madjid Khiat.
“More than 60 hours after the tragedy, and even if time is against the firefighters, the head of operations explained to us this morning: ‘We always work with the hope of having a miracle, thanks to pockets of survival under the rubble’, reports journalist Madjid Khiat, from Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). A hope that dwindles hour by hour. “There are permanently more than a hundred firefighters, men and women mobilized on the scene of the tragedy”describes Madjid Khiat.
Dogs and drones mobilized with firefighters
The research work is “extremely difficult, because the firefighters and the experts must constantly monitor the buildings adjoining the scene of the tragedy, because there is still doubt about the solidity of their structure“, explains the journalist. The means remain those employed in recent days, “with in particular dogs and drones which are mobilized with the firefighters”adds Majid Khiat.
