The European Union announced on Wednesday October 9 the sending of three planes loaded with humanitarian aid to Lebanon, where fighting is raging between the Israeli army and Hezbollah. “The EU stands alongside the populations affected by the ongoing crisis in Lebanon”underlined the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, on X.

These planes, filled with hygiene products or makeshift shelters, will take off from Brindisi, in southern Italy, or from Dubai. The first is expected on October 11 in Beirut, said the European Commission. The European Union will also finance the delivery of aid to Lebanon decided by several member states, including Spain, Slovakia, Poland, Belgium, Greece and France. This aid includes medicines and medical equipment, essential to help the Lebanese, especially displaced people. This is part of the overall envelope of some 104 million euros decided this year to support Lebanon.
