Russia has threatened the European Union with “decades-long lawsuits” if it uses frozen Russian assets.

“We are perfectly confident that we are legitimate to do so”asserts Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate for Europe on France Inter on Sunday March 24, after Russia threatened the European Union with “decades-long pursuits” in case of use of his frozen assets, Wednesday. The EU’s plan to use part of the profits linked to the freezing of Russian assets to finance Ukraine’s armament has “is the subject of in-depth legal analyses”he emphasizes.
Jean-Noël Barrot greets a “very strong moment of unity” And “of Europeans’ determination to support Ukraine”, during the European Council which was held on Thursday and Friday. “The heads of state and government have decided to accelerate reflection on all possible avenues to finance the strengthening of European defense capabilities,” rejoices the Minister Delegate for Europe.
