the epidemic is on the rise again in Occitania but things are better in the hospital

The average number of positive cases for Covid-19, calculated over a week, is increasing in Occitania. The latest report, published Friday evening by the regional health agency (ARS), indicates an average number of new daily cases which amounts to 6361 for the past seven days. On Tuesday, that same number was just 5,032.

The positivity rate increases (25.1% against 23.1% on Tuesday). Over the past seven days, the region has recorded 44,529 cases, almost 10,000 more than the previous week.

Fewer hospitalizations qualify the ARS

This increase in contamination is offset by an improvement in the situation at the hospital. On Friday, 1,824 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in the region, including 150 in intensive care. 1824 is 58 fewer patients than last week. Health authorities call for vigilance and not to forget barrier gestures : hand washing, disinfection or even wearing a mask, to avoid a new epidemic rebound.
